The YCC awards the Richard M. Buxbaum Prize in Teaching Comparative Law to an untenured scholar in a tenure-track position at an ASCL Member School, or who is an Individual Member of the ASCL, in recognition of teaching excellence in any subject of comparative law. Details of this award and a list of previous recipients are available here.

While self-nominations are welcome, it would be particularly helpful for senior colleagues to nominate candidates from their institutions for this prize. Please submit any nominations to ycc@ascl.org, with “Buxbaum Prize” in the subject line, by June 13, 2025. Those wishing to nominate must submit documentation of the candidate’s teaching record in any aspect comparative law, along with a cover letter detailing how the candidate has demonstrated excellence in teaching. Nominations should also include the nominee’s name, institutional affiliation, contact information, and field of scholarly interest that engages comparative law. Nominations must be submitted to ycc@ascl.org by June 13, 2025, with the subject line “Nomination for Buxbaum Teaching Prize.” Recipients of the teaching award are welcome to attend the YCC program of the Annual Meeting but are not required to do so.
