Any civilian or military attorney who is employed by the U.S. government shall be eligible to receive the award as long as the applicant is below the age of 40 as of September 1 of the current fiscal year and has completed at least three years of continuous government service.

Nomination applications should be emailed to awards@fedbar.org with the subject line "YFLA Award - Name of Nominee". The program's primary goal is to encourage younger federal lawyers to attain high standards of professional achievement and to accord public recognition for outstanding performance.
