Overview
Since 1987, Scribes has presented an annual award for the best student-written article in a law review or journal. Submissions undergo a two-stage review process. Law professors conduct an initial review and select finalists. The Law Review Award committee then reviews the finalists and selects the winner.
Selection Criteria
Entries are evaluated based on:
- Quality and clarity of legal writing
- Depth of analysis and research
- Originality and insight
- Overall contribution to legal scholarship
Professor Joseph Kimble, a longtime Scribes member, developed guidance on clear, concise, and forceful legal writing. You may download his criteria here.
